Indian Mutiny Medal 1857-58, Captain, retired

CAPTAIN  JAMES PARKER,  Bengal Ordanance Commissariat Dept.

Enlisted 1837 into the East India Company Artillery, transferred as Sergt to the Bengal unattached list 1846.

Off Sub-Conductor 1856, Conductor 1857 stationed at Agra, in charge of the Shajahanpore Depot.

Present during the Mutiny at Agra, the attack on the village of Adownee and engaged with the Bareilly mutineers at Kutchla Ghaut during 1857.

Hon Ensign 1872, Hon Lieutenant 1876, retiring Hon Captain 1880.

The rank of CONDR has been erased from rim, please see photographs, obviously due to being promoted at a later date.

Medal named CONDR  J. PARKER AGRA ORDCE COMMT DEPT.

Served 43 years, from Gunner to retiring as Honorary Captain in 1880.

With research, and worthy of more. Issued to a unit rarely seen.

Nicely toned, a couple of small marks otherwise GVF.
